Physician assistant (PA-C)

A physician assistant. National certification and the state license are two separate checks.

What it is

PA stands for physician assistant. NCCPA treats “physician assistant”, “physician associate” and “PA” as equivalent titles.

NCCPA’s public tool for checking a PA’s certification is called Verify PA-C. It checks certification, not the state license a PA practices under.

Check certification with NCCPA’s Verify PA-C tool.
Check the state license with the board that licenses PAs. Your state page lists the boards we have on file.
Ask who their supervising or collaborating physician is, and look up that license too.
