Pop-ups, parties and mobile treatments

A treatment at a party, a pop-up or your front door can be convenient. It also moves the treatment away from the supplies, the records and the people you’d need if something went wrong.

What changes away from a clinic

  • Emergency supplies and correction options may not come along
  • Lighting, space and cleanliness are whatever the room offers
  • A group adds social pressure, and sometimes alcohol
  • Records and follow-up can be harder to find later
  • The person who treated you can be harder to reach once they’ve packed up

What FDA says about the product

FDA advises against buying dermal fillers sold directly to the public, and says the provider should use properly labeled, sealed vials or pre-filled syringes of FDA-approved filler.[1][2]

In 2024, FDA warned that counterfeit Botox had been found in multiple states, and advised getting injections only from licensed, trained providers using product from an authorized source.[3]

Wherever you are, ask to see the sealed package opened in front of you.

IV drips at home, at events and in lounges

Several state boards have published rules or guidance on IV therapy, covering things like who may order it, who may place the line, and what assessment comes first. What applies depends on your state.[4]

  • Who reviewed my health history, and who ordered this bag?
  • Who places the IV, and what license do they hold?
  • What’s in the bag, at what doses, and where did it come from?
  • What happens if I react while you’re here, and after you leave?

Questions for any event or mobile booking

  1. Who is treating, with what license, and can I look it up before the day?
  2. Who supervises, and are they here?
  3. Can I see the product sealed, and opened in front of me?
  4. What emergency supplies are here, and who is trained to use them?
  5. Who do I call tomorrow, and next week?
  6. Where is my treatment record kept, and how do I get a copy?
You can decide later. If an offer only exists tonight, in front of your friends, that’s worth noticing.
