Comparing injectable quotes
Two quotes for “Botox” can look alike and not be. Before you compare prices, make sure you’re comparing the same thing.

Three ways injectables are priced
- Per unit: a rate. The total depends on how many units, and that number is often settled at the appointment.
- Per area: a flat price for an area, such as forehead lines. Ask how many units it includes and what happens if you need more.
- Per syringe: common for filler. Ask for the exact product, the syringe size and how many syringes.
Units don’t carry across brands
Neurotoxin units belong to the brand that measured them. Botox Cosmetic’s prescribing information says its units cannot be compared to or converted into units of any other botulinum toxin product.[1]
So a unit price means little until you know the brand. Ask which brand, every time, and compare quotes brand to brand.
Line the quotes up
For each quote, write down:
- The brand and exact product
- Units or syringes, per area and in total
- The areas treated
- The total price, before and after any discount
- Whether a follow-up or touch-up is included, and what it costs if not
- Who injects, and their license
- Deposit, cancellation and expiry terms
Then compare totals for the same brand, the same areas and the same follow-up. A lower rate with more units can come to more money.
Specials, memberships and banked units
A discount changes what you pay, not what you get. Ask whether the discounted product is the same product, and what happens to units or credits you’ve paid for and not used.
